I am very pleased with the care of the dentist and staff. My teeth look amazing and fit really well. I would tell everyone to go with them.

Request a callbackComposite Bonding is one of the least invasive of all cosmetic dental procedures and involves using a tooth coloured resin called composite to fix the shape or colour of a tooth. Composite bonding can easily repair chips, fractures, decay and discoloured teeth.
Dental composite was first developed as a tooth coloured filling material and an aesthetic alternative to silver amalgam.
Over the years dental materials have improved and we can now bond composite onto enamel or dentine to change the shape or colour of a tooth.
Composite bonding usually doesn’t require any tooth reduction which means it’s a healthy and quick way to fill gaps or repair misshapen, chipped or discoloured teeth.
At your initial consultation, the HQ Dental practice team will discuss with you the areas you want to address.
First the surface of the tooth needs to be thoroughly cleaned and then etched and this creates a ‘key’ to allow the composite to bond onto the tooth.
The composite is applied in different layers to mimic natural tooth structure -usually there is a coloured ‘dentine ‘ layer and then a lighter coloured ‘ enamel’ layer and sometimes a final translucent layer. This means that our dentists can skilfully match your existing teeth.
Each layer of composite is ‘light cured’ to harden and then finally shaped and polished.
If we’re using composite to change the shape of several teeth good treatment planning is essential and we will usually create a ‘diagnostic wax up’-this is a ‘mock up’ of the intended result so that our patients can see how their teeth will look before we start the treatment.
If you feel you have crooked teeth, misshapen teeth, chipped teeth, discoloured teeth or broken teeth and would like to hear more about how composite bonding could help achieve your perfect smile, get in touch.
Minimally invasive procedure
The main advantage of composite bonding from HQ Dental is that you can achieve amazing results without the use of injections, extractions or fillings. It doesn’t affect tooth structure and it is very rare that drilling is required which makes it quick, convenient and pain-free.
Improve your smile
As well as restoring the shape of your front teeth, composite bonding also has a teeth whitening effect that will really improve your smile. Crooked or misshapen teeth can make patients who come to us self-conscious or afraid to smile fully. Composite bonding helps you to smile with ease and feel more confident.
Quick and cost-effective
Dental bonding is an effective but affordable alternative to other more invasive cosmetic dental treatments that require multiple appointments. In most cases, composite bonding treatment can be completed in just one visit to the dentist, saving you time and money.
Composite bonding prices will vary from patient to patient, but you will also find that the cost of composite bonding is significantly cheaper than other treatments.
Composite bonding is an ideal treatment for the following:
• Crooked or crowded teeth
• Chipped or worn teeth
• Closing gaps
• Hiding discolouration
• Misshapen tooth sizes
• Hiding receding gums
• Building up decayed teeth
The biting forces in your mouth are enormous which means that composite bonding is not permanent. Composite will wear down and sometimes chip but can last up to 5 years depending on your diet and oral hygiene.
Composite bonding is quick and can be applied in one visit making it cost effective but composite wears down quickly and can discolour depending on your diet.
Porcelain veneers won’t discolour and are a much stronger and longer lasting option.
Porcelain veneers feel and look more natural too but are produced by the laboratory so are a more expensive option. Click here to find out more about porcelain veneers.
Most people can have composite bonding, providing they have a good standard of oral health.
Crowns may be a more viable option if your tooth is badly damaged. Your dentist will be happy to discuss the best option available to you.
No-we can only whiten natural tooth structure so we sometime recommend whitening before we start composite bonding.
